Close to the west-side of the duomo, a few meters away from the main
entrance doors, there is a hidden astronomical treasure: a bronze meridian line
on the ground and a hole in the roof form a yearly calendar where the sun each day around noon will
illuminate a spot along the line. If you come prepared with some advance-planning, you have a
chance observing this for yourself.
You find a tool here that calculates the exact time each day
where the sun is in the zenith above the duomo. The cloud-probability should be
low for a good observation.

Note, you need to book a ticket to visit the Duomo. There are different options, the typical trip includes the "terraces", which basically means you enter the building on the north-side and directly access the rooftop of the building. You will enter the interior of the building going down from the roof. Consider at least 30-45min for the terraces.
